Perth-Andover, Saint John, & Edmundston Electric Utilities Presentation on Climate Change
Perth-Andover CAO Dan Dionne, Saint John Energy Vice-President Ryan Mitchell, and Énergie Edmundston Directeur Pierre Roy presented to the Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Stewardship for the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly.
The presentation had three key areas for improvement.
- Update provincial energy policy with an independent panel
- Grow smart grid, share data
- Implement climate adaptation measures
- Redesign the Utility Tax to encourage “green” investment.
- Enact legislation to require NB Power to implement a head pond management program.
- Establish a business flood mitigation program for Perth-Andover businesses and other business areas that are prone to flooding.
